Self portrait's...

Here's a self portrait that's half way through being painted, but I actually prefere the painting at this stage, to the finished work. I was about 23, I think, but the painting wasn't finished for another couple of years, and took on many more guises. I not completely sure if it is finished yet, this painting sit's in the corner of my studio behind my guitar case. It was shown at 'The Institution' Art exbibition, it measures 17 " by 24" and uses a wide selection of materials. Which do you prefere?

Hey great news, I'm up to number 3 on the Alternative chart IAC with Plasticine, thankyou to everyone who is playing the tunes, keep it up. Let me know which painting you prefere, so take care and GMaS.

Hi Mikey!!!

I love the first one because it's more relaxing, his face is sweeter and, for me, red colour is very aggressive...You paint the human body very well, fantastic, we've got a great painter here...
But the one I LOVE the best, I really LIKE it, is Body and Soul under the Waterfall...I've been watching it for half an hour, trying not to lose the details...what do the circles that the figures have in their hands represent??
My mother and my uncle are painters too, I'll try to post some pictures someday so you can have a look if you like...
Congratulations for your songs..Wonderful!! I'll keep on playing them..

The waterfall pic is awesome and I like the red one cuz you look so mean, like a Conqistador. 'here is my sword... where is you gold?'

Hey Mikey,
I like both paintings, but the second one I love because of the red back ground and the defined lines on the shoulders and chest.
Congrats on the raiting of Plasticine! Like I said, it's one of my favourite songs at the moment. One of my most played.

I think the second one has a Bruce Lee quality to it. I like the first one, mostly because it has a softer quality to it.

Congrats on Plasticine!

Hmm...is the second portrait complete? I like the rediscovery, the ongoingness of this process (there I go again, process) with the first one. The result still depends a lot on the elements that you use to complete the painting and then this one may be that painting that remains to evolve, to constantly offer back to you what you need to see and feel inspired to create other works you are certain are complete when they are done.

A lot of words there.

Congratulations on numero tres for Plasticine. The lyrics are some of the best I have heard in some years.

The first one has a contemplative feeling about it and the second is more aggressive. Almost warrior-like. They're both wonderful.
I'm so glad your songs are doing well on IAC.

Thankyou Ginab, I understand, like it, thanks, there is a bit more of a story to go with the second painting, it's really interesting to have all these new idea's buzzing about.

Thanks Elaine, that's very clever of you, I was in a bit of a battle, and I think I was a bit angry. Thanks for posting, take care.

Hey Mikey,

I think both paintings are excellent. But if I had to choose, I believe I like the first one. I like that it doesn't have as much color in it. The second one looks angry. Maybe because of the red.

I have my self portrait up over at my blog, let me know what you think if you get a chance.

Take care,

Zoe

Hi Mikey,
I put my vote in for number one, if I have to choose.
The second one, looks like Bruce Springsteen to me.
Do you see that?

I am listening to "A Better Me". What a beautiful song. So glad Plasticine is moving up. That is a great tune. It is the type of song that puts you in a good mood, right away. I also LOVE "Feel My Heat"...I come by at least once a day to have a listen. You should be higher up on the charts. No bias. You are that good!

Great paintings Mikey. I'm so pleased to see yours and Rachel's music doing so well on IAC. I'd love to get a job there. They are down the road from me.. Your CD is in my car stereo, disk number 4 and I play it all the time there too.

When you did the drums for "Feel my heat" did you program those using Acid or did you have a real kit? I have a song that calls for drums using brushes instead of sticks, it is a mellow tune I'm about to record and I'm having a hell of a time locating the right loops.

Thanks AndyW,

Thanks Izygrl, it's funny, someone else said that the second one reminded them of Bruce Lee, and now you say Bruce Springsteen, there seem's to be a conection, he he.
Thankyou for all your loverly words, keep listening in, take care.

Hey Gary, hope your doing good mate, the drum's for feel my heat, where originally programed, but then Mark Brezizki played on the version that you have, he is an incredible drummer. I know how frustating it is to be drum programing, I've got to start doing it myself for the new song, but I keep finding other things to do first. Thanks for the shout mate, hope your stuff on IAC continues to do well as well. Take care mate.
