GOOD AND BAD...

Firstly, I appologize for slacking again with this and my other blog, its just not good enough. Don't worry, I've given myself a real talking too, unfortunately I completely ignored myself.

So, starting with the GOOD, had an amazing time up at the studio recording some songs with Rachel and her band, it is such a pleasure working with such talented people, not only do they have talent and ability, but they are all beautiful human beings. Rachel was on top form, and we managed to record four tracks, two of mine and two of hers, all of them are songs me and Rachel have played together for years.
I hope everyone who saw the session enjoyed it, you got the reality of recording, the joy of creation, I think it was a stroke of genius to put it out on TOWSER TV. Thanks to everyone that made it happen. My return journey home was a good one, and Rene picked me up from the station.
I sat down in the lounge and fed my fish, and watched them eat, then noticed that the largest of my fish, a kissing gourami that we called 'Punk boy' was missing. I hunted around looking for him, growing more and more concerned, and then found him.
I'm finding this hard to write, but he was dead. I had noticed him growing old and skinny, but he was such a character I never expected him to go so fast. I'm really upset, but have realised that all things must die, time moves on.
I took him over to the beach straight away, it was very windy, and the sea was rough, I stood in the surf and let his body wash into the sea and out of my hands. I truly loved 'Punk boy', I will miss him greatly.
All the other fish in the tank are well, and I maintain my love for them.
So, I've been in a foul mood since, although I'm feeling a little better today, and tomorrow will be better.
I hope this blog finds you all well, thankyou for all your kind words.
I'll post a picture of Punk boy, a true friend of mine, bless his infinite soul, may he rest in peace.

Mikey,

Sully here. Usually post on Pete's and Rachel's page.

I'm curious -- do you have a specific music goal for 2006 OR are you just feeling your way thru it and see what happens?

If you ever come to the States, it would be cool to bring you onto a NYC show with a couple of other bands we know.

Check out my blog and my website. Would like to know what you think.

Thank you Mikey!

You are a sweetheart!
I printed your response & my 8 year old proudly took it to school this morning.

I'm sorry to hear about Punk Boy - I will say a little fish prayer for him. I like the idea of a burial at sea...

Speaking of the sea, when I first read your post about your fish tank, I fully expected the tank to be your sea!!
LOL

I also have 3 different kinds of unpasurized honey in the fridge. I will follow your doctors orders!

Thanks again.
Yours

Hey Mikey,
Sorry to hear about Punk Boy. Reminds me that all living things are unique.

Nice work yesterday, saw about the last hour. Brave of you to put cameras in the studio like that.

I only found Eelpie & company in November and watched the Basement Jam and Christmas special. I don't get the best feed but got the audio without too many breaks.

Glad you clarified the meaning of Plasticine... I originally thought "my god, who would name their daughter Plasticine" You know, "Oh Plasticine, why can't you be true"

I like beach pictures and sunsets too. Have some recent pix on my blog. I'm trying to get Rachel to bring the Attic to our town - maybe you could put in a word.

Thank you for the music and laughter.

Hi Mikey,
I'm sorry to hear about your fish. I lost one of my koi a few days ago. His name was Dean, so now it's just Sammy and Frank left in the pond. I wonder if they miss him?
Anyway I'm glad your recording session went well, I'll look forward to hearing the finished product :)

Take Care

Hi Mikey!
I'm really sorry about your fish. I know how you feel! I didn't mean to make light of Anjoli dropping hers - I was quite upset and didn't hear the "real" story for about a month! She did have a funeral for both Bill and Ted...she buried them in our backyard and made a little sign and put a ring of flowers around them.
Ok that sounds sweet, but then she and her friend tried to dig them up a few weeks later...but it poof! No fish! Dust in the wind, man!
I had a scare yesterday when I looked in our tank - I thought one of the teeny frogs died...but it was just the bottom plastic part of one of the plants! LOL.
You sounded AMAZING the other day in the studio! It was so cool seeing (mostly listening) to the whole process. Can't wait to hear the finished product. I'm sure we'll hear it when ITA returns. Hope so!
Take care!

Hey Mikey....just found you on MySpace also. I'm endlessly fascinated by how this blog stuff has made the world the size of an ashtray.

It's been really cool to watch you guys online. I'm still trying to figure out how to post a podcast that I've recorded (help anyone??)...I don't know an RSS file from a tuba.

Anyways, we're trying to finish our CD up. We've got guests on it including John Bundrick and Dennis Diken, and a video is in the works, so drop us a line and hope to see you in the states soon.

If you want any gigs in NY or NJ, give us a ring, ay?

Yes, having a video of the recording was a stroke of genius. I learned alot about the recording process, and it was also entertaining to watch. I am really sorry about what happened to Punk Boy, I'm sure he was a great fish. Perhaps he'll come back in some shape or form. Wether it be a happy day or a cloud in the sky. It is really unfortunate how fish tend to have such short lifespans. Speaking of fish, my dad, mom, and I are considering finishing up our pond soon. I hope to put fish and turtles in it, and when (if) it gets completed, I'll be happy to post pics. I'll have to put chicken wire or something over the pond so the hawks won't get them. Have a good one.

-Kevin

P.S. I put one of your songs on my myspace! I absoloutely love your site! I wish they would put your songs on iTunes.

Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

Mikey, I don't know why, but I always equate something by George Harrison when I read your blogs?
Anyway, this is meant to help soothe your heart.

Mikey, I think your deep love for your fish is so sweet, and very telling about your personality! What other pets do you have?

It's very strange, because while Tom and I are the biggest animals lovers you will ever meet, we have never had any pets! No domestic pets anyway, just lot's of squirrels and birds and other wild animals that we feed and love to watch play in our yard. I was raised by a dog loving family though, and I'm seriously thinking of finally getting one!

I watched a bit of the studio sessions on Towser TV. You all played so awesome! I can't wait to hear the end result of your effort! Those songs deserve to be heard by a large audience, so I hope you plan on doing something with the recordings after they are finished.

Hi Mikey

Went skiing this afternoon...
It was AWESOME!
We haven't had these fantastic conditions at the hill for a long time!
I hope you & Rene get a chance, in between recording, to do some great snowboarding this season!
Remember Panorama! I'd be delighted to show you around...

Are you going to show any more of your recording sessions?
I might get a chance to check it out at work.

Hi to Rene.

Love

Mikey,

I'm so sorry to hear about your fish. Say, have you ever done a painting based on a photograph before? The fishtank pictures that you have posted would make remarkable paintings, they look so colourful and surreal. It could be the perfect tribute to your aquatic friends. It could also be a good song idea: "Punk Boy Returns to the Sea"

Might as well try to turn the bad into the good,

Tom

Hi Mikey,
I'm so very sorry to hear about 'Punk boy'. I really hope your luck changes as of now with your aquarium. Condolences.

I posted another new song on my "Power Chords" blog. It is called "Baby Teeth", wrote it for my nieces and nephews. I would welcome any feedback you may have on it. It's basic guitar/vocals, but couldn't think of anything else to add to it as yet. The guitar part was a bugger to get all the way through. I sort of fudged the bridge, and may re-record that once I have become more fluid at that part.

I'm really looking forward to hearing the songs you and Rachel recorded this week. GMAS

HI Mikey, I really appreciate your feedback. You're right mate, less echo/effect on voice. I had not thought of banjo, but now that you mention it, I can hear it. I had heard some quiet sgt. Pepper's brass on the bridge part, but am not sure if I can pull that off using keys. Thanks again for listening to my stuff.

Let me know what you would like to do on the MySpace. If you are getting setup on email, we can transition to you then, or we can ask Rene if she wants to monitor. You're getting lots of new fans. Yeah!! When you have a moment GMAS.

Hi Mikey,

So sorry to hear about PunkBoy. I have a saltwater aquarium and always feel sad when one dies. Now that you have experience with freshwater tanks you should give salt a try...maybe a 20 gallon to start.

I listen to Without Your Love almost everyday. I predict it will be a hit;)I must download your other songs from IAC real soon.

Looking forward to seeing you on tour this year!

It's been hard for me to keep up with everyone lately, just hadn't had the heart, I guess. Plus I've been getting sucked into Pete's story over there, I have to admit.Anyway, I need to catch up here! xoxoLisa
