ATLANTIC CITY, PHILIDELPHIA AND HERSHEY...
It was a long drive to Atlantic city, and my phone was playing up, eventually I got a signal and was able to talk to my Rene. It is a huge casino complex built on a delta. The day of the show, I went for a long walk beside the water, it was beautiful, the show was the smallest venue the Who have played, and there was no side of stage, so I watched the show from out front, it annoyed me that lots of people were talking during the show.
We got back on the bus and travelled to Phili, which wasn't that far, I could see the city in the distance from the gig, its very pretty. The show was excellent, and I met a few bloggers there. Then back on the bus and up the road to Hershey, a town built around a chocolate factory, it seemed quite a strange place to me, but then I come from Essex I suppose. I was quite expecting to bump into Willy Wonker. The show here is tonight, I'm in the bus, in the car park.
The phone at home is playing up, so me and Rene are having problems talking at the moment, its a nightmare, and I'm feeling very lonely, the time away is starting to really get to me. I am looking forward to the gigs in NYC and Chigago, but its hard to stay up beat, and theres still more than two weeks until I see my darlin again. I know how lucky I am, to be following the Who around America, and sharing a stage with legendary performers, so I appologize for my self pity.
Thankyou to everyone giving me great shouts here on this blog, it does make me feel better, your all lovely. Hope to meet loads of you at Joe's, don't quite know what to play, so any idea's, please let me know. Once again, thanks everyone, take care and give me a shout [GMaS]...

Oh Mikey,
You do sound sad ;(
I wished we would have seen you at the Borgata.
We were in the 15th row, and they sounded fantastic from there. I had friends in front row, Roger's side. They said the sound was not as good from there?
There was no chatting by us; just singing and dancing!!
I thought it was a fabulous show, and everyone looked well.
I am looking forward to wednesday.
I love Plasticine and Misery, and if I have to pick a favorite, I go with these two....but, truly, Mikey, I'm happy to see/hear you at all...so, follow your heart!
Take care and be well....

I guess, I should ask you.
How do you feel, as a performer, when the audience sings along? Is it distracting?
Let me know....so I will NOT sing along, if it upsets you at all. I suppose, in such an intimate setting, as Joe's, it could be annoying???
;)
Hi Mikey,
I'm finally getting around to checking out your blog and wanted to give you a shout. We talked for quite a while outside the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles before your most excellent performance. When I come up with a truly worthwhile "useless fact", I'll pass it along as promised (I guess I'll have to post it here). As a scientist, I don't consider your comments useless at all, but who cares what I think?
If you haven't seen the pictures I took of you and the other entertainers (there's a link on Pete's News section), go here:

Let me know if you'd like me to send any of the high resolution pictures to you.
Keep your chin up and think how much you'll enjoy this Christmas season when you finally get home.
Tim
Hi Mikey,
Too bad you're not able to do more ITA shows during this part of the tour. At least that would give you a focus and take your mind of the loneliness of the road. Wednesday night should be better, when you can bask in the love of bloggers and other strangers! Enjoy NYC and know that many fans are very glad you're here!
And if "absence makes the heart grow fonder," just imagine how much you and Rene will love each other by Christmas!
Cheers from LA,
Chris
Mikey,
I'll be at Joe's Pub, and I can't wait! It'll be awesome. You should definitely play Plasticene and/or You.
It's hard being away from the ones you love, but just think about how happy you'll be when you see your girlfriend again! Also.. think about the fact that you get to see every Who concert from a good seat.. for free! People would give a kidney or some other valuable organ for that.
I'm counting down the days until Joe's Pub. No, actually the hours. Nonono, I take that back.. the minutes! THE SECONDS!
I'm excited.
xoJ
Good luck at Joe's Pub, Mikey. I'm bummed that there won't be a smaller venue in Toronto, I was so looking forward to the possibility. I'm also sorry you're feeling homesick- give us a shout if you want to go for a burger in the city.
Hey Mikey!
I can imagine it's tough on the road alone. But then again, it's only 2 weeks and you'll be back together!!
I just read Anne-Marie's posting and it's sad there won't be an ITA gig in Toronto. Real loss. Could have been a humdinger! The CN tower would have made a great place to hold one, but maybe you can get an ITA show backstage at the Centre. The Falls was real gorgeous this weekend. Took the beagle there and my hometown for a walk. She still had piss and vinegar left and jellyroll me was "knackered".
Tomorrow is my Exempt Fireman dinner, so that's a free porterhouse steak and potato washed down with Fuzzy Navels (Orange Juice and Peach Schnapps). Looking forward to it!
When things fall into place, other things fall out. Sorry I missed you in Texas. Keep up the great work.
Hey Mikey!
It's not good that you aren't happy! But I can understand you! It's hard to be away from home a long time! I'd miss my friends, too! I hope you feel happy soon!
Love, Charly
Turn that frown upside-down!
Hi Mikey,
think about the investment you are making with each appearance, you're being introduced to a lot of people (hopefully). I know it must be lonely on the road. Just think about how wonderful Christmas is going to be once you are home.
On this tour Mikey, Pete has said some wonderful things about how you have matured as an artist and performer. There were no glitches, tuning problems, just total professionalism on stage in LA. Keep it going mate.
If you check out my blog for Nov 12th. I had posted something for you and Rene. I guess you did not see it. Anyhow, give it a read. The post is called "The Road is Sometimes a Lonely Place"
Hang in there Mikey.
Oh dear Mikey you sound soooo sad!
I feel for you, and Rene too!
But just know that you ARE incredibly lucky - you really are - plus you have this wonderful opportunity to SHINE tonight, just as you did in LA. This is big - and important - the press will take note I am sure!
So maybe you can just make lemonade ( you know that saying...when life gives you lemons, make lemonade?).
Lots of thirsty folk out there...
Have a GREAT time tonight!
Chin up!
You can't be sad in NYC!!! crazy wonderful town...next to London, it's my favorite city in the world.
You're awesome Mikey, just know that,ok?
Take care-
Love,
Suexx
oops I guess Joe's is tomorrow.
You've seen more of america thatn I have... and I was born here! I am really jelous, I have never been further east than nebraska.
Mikey - I feel for you. I had a long distance relationship for almost 2 years and I know all about missing :( Hope you have fun tonight at Joe's Pub. I'll be there! It will be fabulous I'm sure. xoLauraBZ in NY
Mikey,
Sometimes it's good therapy to feel a little self pity and talk about it(you know work through it). I know you won't get stuck there, you are too possitive for that.
I am also looking forward to Chicago ITA.
If you are looking for something to do while in Chicago, my offer to visit my museum still stands.
Take care,
Cath
And we have a great gift store for you to pick out something really nice for Rene.
Cath
HI MIKEY!!
It was so great meeting you, last night. Your performance was SUPERB! It was so surreal to hear MISERY AND PLASTICINE, LIVE!!! Thank you, Thank you!!
You are as warm and genuine, in life as you are on the small screen. We wish all the best for you. Your talent is as big as your heart.
Leon took my invisible cd..so, now I need to purchase another one. BTW, I think Rene has some competition with Leon.. ha ha!! He really is a teddy bear isn't he?
I am not sure when you are going home,so, I am wishing you a safe trip back to your ladylove.....we will miss you, here!
Big LOVE to you, and your Rene.

Mikey:
I just wanted to say what a pleasure it was chatting with you outside the gig last night for as long as we did. You are so completely down to earth and genuine, you made the night very special for me & I will not soon forget the comment about music being like a burning in your belly. The pix came out great. If I knew your email I'd send it to ya. or maybe it's just mikey@eelpie. I'll try it. I didn't realize you had such great eyes until I saw the picture (it was too dark outside). Your songs were wonderful and Plasticine touches me, as always, LOVE IT!
Anyway, keep on working hard and hope to see you again soon in '07 & beyond...
Thanks again
-Lin B.
and thanks for giving that note to Pete for me...
& tell Simon to get on his blog!
we miss him!

Mikey
It was great talking to you again in NYC. Thanks for signing our LA photos! Wanted to talk longer, but you got swarmed during your phone call. Hope it was Rene calling!
Dave and I will be in Chicago and we always like spending time with you. We'll be in town for the weekend so if you have some spare time and want to explore the Windy (and now Snowy) City, let us know. Can't sign in under my blogger id, Cathy with a C, because I've converted to Beta and now I can't comment on non-Beta bloggers. Major bummer, but my email is cmkenlin@comcast.net. You can reach me there if you want to get together in Chicago. I check it fairly often, even while out of town.

mikey, you're looking well this morning...er, um, this afternoon. you were great at the gig last night. i could tell you this in person as you are sitting 5 feet from me but i see you are reading your blog so why I thought I'd communicate by cyber speech.
hey weird, my other comment went bye bye...i think it's this beta version of blogger going haywire. anyway, it was great getting to hang out with you this week! you really are such a sweetheart. hope you are doing well and were able to get that present for rene! keep in touch. x

MIKEY!!!! It's been so long. Sorry I haven't written, lots going on... I'm watching you on "the loop" and I realise how VERY much I miss you.
You did a BRILLIANT job on the tour, it must have been very tiring to say the least, not to mention being separated from Rene.
I'm sorry that on my trip to Joe's Pub in September, you weren't there. I was so disappointed, but did get to meet Rach and Pete and Foy Vance (whose mum shares my maiden name, so now I am convinced that we are related and I told him Ella MUST call me Auntie......) LOL
Many hugs, Mikey~
Sorry again that we lost touch for a bit.
Best regards~
