A quick one.

Hi all, just a quick blog here, I stayed at Pete's and Rachel's last night, and am blogging from Rachel's computer. Pete has a gorgeous house, I'm inspired every time I visit, and I am made to feel very comfatable.
Had a good rehersal yesterday, everything went well except for the song called 'You', that me and Rachel performed on ' In the attic ', which I kept having problems remembering the guitar part, which I wrote many years ago. It is so weird how a song disapears from your mind. So were not playing that one anymore, I'm playing 'Plastercine','Tourist', 'Misery'(with Simon T) and 'A better me'.
I hope my set goes well, I'm a bit nervous, but that's a good thing, it puts me in the right place mentally. i hope everyone gets in ok, and has a brilliant night.
Looking forward to the ' In the attic ' show on wednesday, hope you can all make it, either live or looped.
Thanks for all my comments, i haven't replied yet, but will in time. Just for Kevin, keep on truckin'.
Give me a shout.

Hi Mikey,

Your right being nervous about the show puts the creative edge on. I think we all still get butterflies before a show. I know I still do. Have a kick butt time performing. Peace.

Dear Mikey

Blogging from my computer at work. It's lunch time. I'll be able to watch the "In The Attic" loop here tomorrow (again at lunch).
I remember getting butterflies in my tummy before a ski race when I was young & before a class at an equestrian event during my 20's & 30's. Apparently it's supposed to happen & keeps you on your toes!

Have so much fun & poo tonight!
(re: "poo" - see my post on Rachel's blog...)

Mikey!
It is is good to be nervous - it keeps us on our toes - and it shows you really care about your performance.
I'm sad to hear that you won't be performing "You" I love that song. Maybe it's because Pete said it was "sublime." It must have freaked you out or something.
I have to tell you that "Tourist" loops in my mind - I sing it alot! Just the beginning part. It's an awesome song too.
I'm glad you and Simon will be playing "Misery" together.
Have a wonderful time!
I just found out that I can get an instant ticket on any airline with my AEX gold card miles, so I just may make it to one of the London gigs one day! Yeah, in my dreams, my husband would say... ;)
Take care,
Sue

It would be very cool if we could somehow organize a group trip to the U.K. around the time of more Rachel & Mikey shows. How cool would that be.. Tourists listening to Mikey singing "Tourist". I haven't been home in ages, and a summer trip, with a weekend festival sounds great...

1:06 Pacific Time, wonder what they're singing right now... ???

Hahaha... I will keep on truckin'! I am finally recording, thought you'd like to know. My friend is letting me record at his house on friday. If the session goes as planned, and if the music sounds any good I'll post it. I must warn you, the acousitcs are crap but thats ok I guess. I can't wait to see the show. Here's a tip: Use the adrenalin and convert it into energy on stage, thats what I do when I have trombone solos at jazz concerts. Well, best luck to you and Rachel, etc.
Keep on truckin'! hahaha...

Mikey, you were great last night! MISERY in particular was a joy to hear. Couples around the room were visibly hugging more during the song, and one girl on her own started plaiting her hair rather wistfully!

Great stuff! Well done! And thank-you!

Mikey! Rene wrote that you signed autographs last night after the show (or maybe she wrote autograph, as in one, but still)> this is great. You are a star as well as a brilliant talent and a kind, generous soul.

I am spilling over today. Happy.

Congratulations!

See you on WHO TV in a bit?

Love, Brina

P.S. Just remembered that after our chamber music concert in Vermont last year, a young girl came up to ask Cindy and me to autograph the program. I was thrilled. She was a piano student and asked me, "How many hours a day do you practice?" I answered her honestly, which was funny because there are days I don't play at all, and days I play four hours.
So I do know how exciting it is to be asked for an autograph!

Dear Lord of the Dance Mikey,

YES you DID make my day! I was having a great day until both myself and my daughter were taken to the Hospital with super high fevers. She has Strep Throat for sure (her first illness ever) and I am in the beginning stages without the positive throat test. Just the lousey feeling bit!

Watching the whole thing when I got home here just made a crap day great and now I can go to bed with a smile!

Loved the dance and yes you did the Plie proper. Rachel has great arches on her insteps and legs to die for so I deem you both Ballerina and Ballerino! I think you two should have "Ballet in the Attic" ever week where you demonstrate one quick move or at least do a little jig for me! I truly felt like a guest on your show.

I laughed pretty hard at the dance to Feel My Heart. It looked like you two were churning butter! LOL Perhaps the "Churning Boogie" can be the theme dance and you can put that to the theme song of In the Attic.

Looking forward to next week. This time YOU can wear the tutu. Thanks again for looping it. I really DO have a life besides this blogging and get so busy I can't sit around all morning and watch even though I would love to. This blogging really sucks you in sometimes.

Have a fantastic week. I am off to bed and perhaps rest for a few days to recover.

Molly

Mikey...so excellent!I'm so glad we have all met you on WHO TV. I love White Stripes. I can not wait until teh film is complete! That Evil song is GREAT! Womderful. Rene must just melt all over the place with everything you write for her. I'm so glad you guys make each other happy.

I understand what you are talking about with the naked thing. I feel like I put myself out there when I do a painting. It's true. If someone does not like the painting, it's like they are criticizing you personally since you have put yourself so much into th epainting. The painting is a reflection of you. Just like with you talented people and your songs. My son is only 7 years old and he feels like that already with his drawings. He's a talented little fellow!
