On a limb...

The weekend flew by, the evenings are getting dark so early now, and because I get up quite late, the days seem very short. Kept checking to see if the show was up on loop, but alas, I haven't seen it. Although I did watch it, that night back at Pete's, but Rene hasn't seen it yet I mean, and its just odd.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be up before the next show, so you may still have the chance to see it, if you thought you missed it. I'm confusing myself here.

Anyway, today was spent 20 feet up a tree in my Dad's garden, he's got this 30 ft standard conifer that needed the top 10 ft chopped off, not an easy job. Climbed a ladder up the 20 ft of just bare trunk, then had to cut my way into the centre of the ball area, then climb into the centre and then cut the tops off, once I was into the centre, it was relatively safe, but getting in there, I felt a bit scared.
After I'd been working for a while, I lost all fear and start harging out the tree holding on with one hand, my dad even brought me up a cup of tea, it was a great view of the sunset. My dad got a couple of pictures whilst I was up the tree, so I'll post them when I get them. I love helping my Dad in his garden, its a truly beautiful place, full of memories.

We sat in the garden and had some tea, I don't smoke in my dads house, then all the lights went out, not just my dads, but the whole area. It all came back on after about 5 minutes, but then it happened again, longer than before, hunting round for candles, I enjoyed it.

Back home, with Rene, I was planning on recording my new song today, but that will have to wait until tomorrow now.

The picture is of me, taken some time ago on Rene's old phone, which she is using again due to the recent theft, says HAPPY. I think this was a joke, but I am happy enough now, just wanted to show you it.

Glad you had a good day Mikey. Overcoming the fear of death while helping out one's father has always been a motivation for happiness to me as well.

There is a relatively new and unknown song called Trees by a guy named Marty Casey (he is the runner up in the INXS Rock Star show) I bet this song would pretty much capture your tree experience. In that picture, you actually look a bit sinister; dangerous I like that. Have a great time recording tomorrow, plugging along just like the rest of us! Take care.

Hi Lucy, I think thats a cool idea, I never thought of that, well maybe, it wasn't a blonde moment, it was a brilliant idea, thankyou blog buddy, and Basterdize, means to make illigitimate, like to say it isn't completely true, although I think I confuse the word with demonize, which means to make something evil. I hope I haven't confused you more, try looking it up, and explaining it to me, now I'm giving you homework, sorry.
Hi Justin, yeah mate, and while I was doing it, he was directing me, which couldn't have been more annoying. Don't get me started. Thanks mate.

How weird, the power went out today in my history class. It was a bit irritating because it was a movie about ghandi and I was really interested. I like the picture. Keep on truckin'!

Ghandi is a bit of a hero to me Kevin, he explained karma really well, and alarma, he said that it was like a game of bridge(card game),karma was the hand you were delt, but alarma is the way you play your hand of cards. Brilliant. Power seems to be on the blink everywhere.GMAS

I keep checking loop too. What up? I wonder??
You are such a good son. Don't think I'd go up a tree for anyone. Come to think of it, I don't think my Dad would have gone up a tree either, so he would understand. I get sweaty palms just thinking of heights. I ski, so it is confusing when I'm on a chair lift, I'm like WHOA what am I doing??? But the only way down is to go for it. Torture in the modern world!
I'm so glad you are happy & letting us know. Your blog is always a bright spot.

Thanks Lzygrl, don't know what's going on with the loop. I have never had a problem with heights, it must be genetic, I reckon. I love snowboarding, but I'm still a learner, I've only been twice, but me and Rene are planning a trip. I'm really glad your enjoying the blog, hope you are enjoying my Indonesia journal as well. Thanks for your post.

My parents live out in the country. They have about 6 acres. From time to time they need my help. I like helping because it's so quiet and peaceful. Except when the farmers are fertilizing. Then it's loud and smells like dung.

Anyway, it makes me feel like a kid again when I had to cut the grass or rake leaves or help build a garden.

Best part now is I can sit down with my dad and share a stein of your favorite lager when we're done.

Sorry Meg, I didn't forget you, thankyou for your post, I take it you are a fellow musician, well I'm glad you like the sinister look, it is very dangerous, if you ever see this face, run, as fast as you can, obviously. Cheers for the shout Meg, I hope tomorrow goes well for you too.

Hey Andy, my dad has nearly always shared a drink with me, but I think attitudes to drinking are more leanient here. Cheers mate.
Hey Stressedoutmanager, that's probably cause my dad has a little tree house in his garden, and we were considering doing it to the huge standard. Or maybe you do need some sleep. Who know's. Thanks for posting mate, I don't think I've seen you before, are you really a stressed out manager?

I've cleaned my dads house and even helped to trim the hedges but I haven't had to climb up a tree to cut any branches. I'd do it though. Who am I kidding? He'd never let me. He'd get my brother or my sister's husband to do it. I haven't climbed a tree since I was a girl. Some of the fondest memories of my childhood were of my sitting in those upper branches. I can proudly state I never once fell. Love your "happy" picture.

Spending the day up in a tree...

Sounds like an excellent subject for a new song, what do you think?

I say that because I've actually been working on a song about someone who climbs up a tree.

Sounds like a fun, hard working sort of day. Looking forward to Thursdays show, I wonder what you've got in store for us this week.

Cheers,

Tom

Oh bum, I forgot to say - I think there may have been a problem with the DVD recorder last week, so it might take a bit of jiggery-pokery to get the loop up and running.
Hopefully someone's on the case, 'cause I'd love to see it too! ;-)

P.S. I thought you were gonna put a link up to my blog x hehe

Always nice to be with Dad I'm sure. Mine passed 9 years ago. But I still think about him a lot.

Wow, tree trimming. I love climbing trees. I worked for awhile in Colorado topping the big pines. Way cool views for sure.

Yea, you really do look happy in that picture. Not!

Can't wait to hear your new song.

Peace, love and light my friend.

Hi Mikey,
It's funny, but that picture of you looks kind of scary, when you seem to be such a sweet person. The other photos don't look at all like that, just this one.
The fact that it has "happy" written across it made me laugh. It really IS funny.

Mikey dear, I just love your HAPPY face. I like that you have some shadowy whiskers too. It adds to your gruff demeanor. Very handsome!

Your face in this photo reminds me of the man who was my first love and who is someone I still enjoy, who has Sicilian and Mafia heritage. Call him J. When he's unhappy, he looks a bit like this photo. When he's neutral, he looks like this photo. When he's happy, a near-smile interferes with his normal Sicilian grimace, and he looks only partially like this photo.

And I know him so well that I can "read" all of those nuances. Other people look at him and think, "Is that Robert deNiro?" People never approach him for directions or help because he is so formidable looking. But if they knew him, they'd know he has a soft side.

Rachel would of course love my friend J., with her Mafia fetish (just kidding, Rachel!).

And the other funny thing about him is that Pete T. sat in my Mafia-looking friend's lap at one of Pete's solo shows years ago. Apparently everyone in the audience was standing and dancing to Pete's music except my friend J., who was sitting in the front row enjoying the music but not standing up. Pete did a little leap into my his lap and whispered in his ear, with a well-placed cuss word issuing a strong request for my friend to get up and on his feet!

Love it. I only just heard that story recently for the first time. I can so picture that!

Hugs,
Brina

Now you need to add Tree Climber to the list of talents lol!

I light lots of votives...ok honesty here..votive overload I mean, in our house and turn out the lights almost on a daily basis. I swear I was born in the wrong century! I like modern plumbing but somthing about the candlelight and romance of it all makes me giddy.

My Dad likes to sit on the sidelines and let me do my thing. Then he pipes in and directs me, letting me know that is not what he is doing. Did that make sense? LOL now I am confused. I think I need some direction now..

Thursdays work better for me this week so I will be able to watch live and host the chat as well! ALL ARE WELCOME! We have a blast every time! I would love to know if you would please ask (I have emailed Rachel without reply as of yet) if it is ok to send in my CD's of her (this goes for you too when yours comes out) and have them signed? I promise a token of
appreciation!.

Thank you! Have a great Tuesday I know I will! I posted a little clip over on my blog...watch it until the end for sure when the cop makes the guy do a little jig!
