SUCKED IN.

I'm posting this picture I found last week, it's of me when I was 23-24, and had just had all my hair cut off, I had returned to art college after a break for some years. It was only at this time really that the preverbial penny dropped for me, and I kind of understood conceptualism, and a lot more besides to do with art, a year later, I painted the Southend Pier painting, that I posted some time ago, you can see how much my hair has grown.

I got up quite late this morning, and had a walk along the beach, and buy some more fags. It was really cold and windy, but incredibly bright, my eye's were watering.
I came home and turned on the computer, posted my Indonesian blog, posted some answer's to comments, and then had a look at Rachel's blog, and saw that the show had been looped.

Well, once I turned it on, I found it very hard to turn off, I have been 'sucked in' and have watched it for most of the day, I should have been recording today, and only managed to turn on the equipment. I'll go back to it in a second. I've stopped watching 'In the Attic', and I'm getting back to work.

Rene will be home soon, and I'm cooking dinner tonight.
Best crack on, if I want to get anything done.

Give me a shout.

Now you know how the rest of us feel Mikey. Sure, I could be in the editing room, but it's more fun to watch the Attic.

Mikey,
You sound like the rest of us musicians always trying to get our stuff written, recorded, blah blah blah. I'm with you, do it when you're not rushed. Then you're more into it spiritually. You're not doing it just to get it done.

You may have blogged this before so indulge me if you could. What gear do you use for recording?
Thanks,
AndyW

Hi Mikey, always wondered what you would look like with your hair short. Nice of you to cook dinner for Rene. Just looked on her Blog and it sounds like she needs cheering up. So coming home to a cooked dinner on a cold night will be just the thing. See ya! Mark

Hi Mikey,
I've watched the loop several times, and am amazed by Pete's demo of Ableton Live. I had my eyes opened big time. Went down to Guitar Center yesterday and the pro audio manager gave me a Pro Tools Igniter pack for free, it had a bunch of updated plug-ins including Ableton Live and something called BFD, which has all sorts of accoustic drum sounds. I'm gradually figuring out how to make my own loops and use Ableton, thanks to Pete. What a wizard in the studio he is. There's also a comprehensive DVD on Pro Tools with all kinds of training.

So what did you think about Spinal Tap? We watched Hide & Seek with Robert DiNiro... Yawn.

Wow! Handsome!
But I like the long hair better, I must admit.Although You could probably have 20-inch tall purple mowhawk with green black and yellow streaks, and you'd still look good. :)

Hi Mikey,

What a handsome lad!

How did your dinner turn out?

I just read a review of the Rolling Stones' concert in San Francisco. Great review, and no mention of the two opening acts: Metallica and Everclear.

That's typical reviewer style, to completely ignore anyone but the headliner.

Again this week I will miss your live Attic show; I'm traveling up to Vancouver that day to visit family. I can't wait for my vacation, it's been a lot of work on my shoulders lately and I am sore need of a break.

Hope to catch you all on the loop, and in the meantime please take care and love to you and Rene.

My goodness man you are totally hot with a close shaved head! And me the big fan of long hair saying that. I haven't gotten back to see the loop yet, I better get moving since it is almost Thursday! I only saw part of last weeks show live so I need to go and check it out again. Hope you have a nice dinner, wow a man that cooks, how refreshing!

Funny my word verification is byych (does that say what I think it says?!?!? Yikes, this blog must know me well!)

Hi Mikey,

My first post on your blog, but I have been watching Rachel's 'In the Attic' for a few weeks now and love your songs.

Pleased to say I will get to see you live on December 4th as Rachel has very kindly invited myself and my Wife and we are both looking forward to it very much.

Can't believe that photo you have put up is of the same Mikey, you look so different and if I may say you look rather 'hard' and not someone to be messed with, whereas your current 'look' with the longer hairstyle, makes you look much more approachable, more like the person you come across as on Who TV :-)

Thanks again for the great music, all the best.

Ron

Hi Mikey,
as a fellow Attic Addict, I think the more you watch the it , the more you'll learn about yourself as a performer. I busked this past weekend outside the Stones show in SF and I can't wait to see the video. Every bit of insight is fascinating and helpful-even if hours seem to go like minutes when your at the computer/telly ;)
cheers,
Amanda

Dear Mikey,

Short or long, you're a handsome gentleman. Rene is a very lucky lady and it warms my heart to hear you speak of her, or even more, sing to her!

I'll be catching you on the loop this week. Traveling up north and west to Vancouver, B.C. where I'll spend a week with family. I honestly feel like I'm going home to my parents...they're both dead, this is my aunt and uncle, but they love me unconditionally and I already feel their warmth welcoming me.

I have a very small family left: just my sister, my teenage son, my aunt and uncle, my cousins (there are three in all) and their families, and then some more distant cousins. It's a bit hard to be in the world with both your parents gone; family means so much!

Anyway I adore my Vancouver family and can't wait to be there.

Bye for now, oh handsome one!

Love, Brina

Thanks everyone, I've slipped behind in answering again, AndyW, look up my post's, its in there titled 'my recording process'.
A couple of you asked what I was cooking for dinner, it was a prawn thai green curry, with noodles, we really loved it, I enjoy cooking Asian style food, and Italian.
Thankyou everyone for all the very kind things you have blogged about me, my hair and my songs.
Also thanks to all the new people posting on my blog, thankyou all.
