ONLY 3 DAYS TO GO....
Here's another 'Pig head' painting, it has a little more humour, but comes from the same place. Just like the pig images used to sell there flesh.
I used to be a vegan, and said at that time, that if animal's were not treated like products, and given space and a decent life, I probably would eat meat. That has turned out to be the case, I only eat organic and free range animals and vegatables. Although, I'm no saint, and stuff does slip through the net, like take aways and such.
Only 3 days to go until the BASEMENT JAM, and I still haven't committed to a set list, maybe I should. Anyway, I hope everyone who can watch the show, does watch the show, it's going to be amazing.
I'll put the link up again tomorrow, let me know of your favorite songs(that I have written) and I'll consider adding them to my set, give me a shout.

You know I am easy to please. Just enjoy yourself. Thank Pete for me. I owe him something I could never repay.

Dear Mikey, I think that my three favorites are "Plasticine," "Tourist," and "Feel My Heat," but truly I have loved every one of your original songs so far. (There's always the chance you could write one that didn't grab me, but the chance seems remote based on what's happened so far.) You make me smile and cry.
Love,
Brina
Thankyou very much Brina, you are a sweet blogger, thanks for letting me know your favorites, and also not dismissing the others, I hope you can watch the show on Sunday, and I hope you and your family are very well, take care and thankyou again.

the pig is unique.. big word for a dizzy blonde like me!
love Lucy (tammy girl)
pretty funny painting mate!
Hey Lucy, get the pink one for 200, you can call it your 'pig', inspired by my paintings, it will be cool. I'm glad your learning, music is really good for expressing stuff. Thanks for posting, and I can tell you that the show starts at 7:45pm and runs for about two and a half hours, please don't let it interupt with your school stuff. Take care.
mikey
Thanks Superamanda, it was supposed to be ironic, maybe that hasn't been acheived. It would be in more context if it was shown along with the other pigs head paintings. Although I did actually sell this one, many years ago.
Thanks for posting.

Feel My Heat, I love that one. Can't wait to see the show!
-Kevin
I can't say that I didn't like any of the songs you performend In The Attic so I guess I am not being too much help but my all time favorites are Plasticine and Tourist. It is up to you Mikey, surprise me! ha ha ha!
Love all your songs, but I think "Feel my Heat" is one of my favs. I'm so looking forward to Basement Jam - I know everyone will put on an awesome show, as they always did on In the Attic (I'll take Foy on faith).
Interesting pig ... probably not your intention at the time, but he makes me smile with his little piggy grin.
I love all your songs Mikey! It doesn't matter which ones you play this weekend. Maybe slip in one we haven't heard yet? Anything you do will be awesome! I'm really looking forward to the show!!!
Carrie
Mikey,
I like this pig head picture and I was going to say that it would look especially stunning displayed alongside the really intense pig head that you posted before. Then, I noticed in your comments that you actually did just that. Your art is so brilliant, I'd love to see you combine it with your music somehow because the two together would be a total knockout!
I'm really looking forward to your show on Sunday and I know it will be great. Just think, this time the majority of the audience (bloggers! yeah!) are familiar with your work and love it already. Just put your usual great personality and energy into it and you will really shine!
Whatever you put in your songlist will be good, but I know how hard it is to make a good songlist. For the opener, I think it's always best to pick something that is easy to play (no complicated finger picking parts right off the bat) but has a lot of energy so you can get really warmed up fast and excite the crowd at the same time.
Also, you have to balance out which songs are in which tunings. Keeping the DADGAD songs together means you don't have to switch guitars around as much but it also might mean that the songs sound similar. In the end, it doesn't really matter though, because with your songs you can't go wrong.
I'll put in a vote for "You", "My Brother Shaun", "My Pigeon Friend" and "Plasticine (In My Pocket)". I think all of those songs are really strong.
Cheers mate! I know you're going to rock the basement!
Tom
Play what you feel Mikey,I love
'em all,but I must put a say
in for "Feel My Heat".What
an extraordinary wonderful
song mate.
Mikey " Dahlin'" (without the G )
Sadly, I have a "family" party for my husband's Gran (who's turning 93!!!) so I will not be able to watch the jam. I am heartbroken, but you know how the "family" thing goes.....I was joking with Rachel that certain people there who haven't seen me in a while will more than likely have their "tape measures and magnifying glasses" to look me over.....So, like any good "vain" woman , I have been starving meself all week and standing in front of my mirror trying to "work it" like Rachel!! LOL "Libertine!"
Though I always try to be demure and lady-like, my husband says I am still a "force to be reckoned with" .......so in my absence I'd like to request that you play "Feel My Heat".
I also wish you the best of luck for Sunday, my dear blogger friend.....Emma and I miss you terribly~
Lots of Love
Elizabeth A
PS Love the piggy..sort of reminds me of "ppppp-Piglet"!
Cute pig.
I'm going to have to agree with Mike.
Play what you feel, we will not be disappointed.
You play best, in my opinion, when it comes from your heart. You get so into the music, that others cannot help but to react in kind. In other words, you rock, we rock.
I am curious if that Matches song ever got an ending?
Love em all though, so I'll be happy anyway.
xx

Hey Kevin, thanks for posting, I would love to play 'Feel my heat', but when I play the song on my own, without mandolin, it just doesn't have the same power, that's why I'm inclined not to play it, sorry. I can play it, but don't know whether I should.
mikey
Thankyou so much Britta Ruth, hope you enjoy the show.
mikey
Hi Meg, I think I'm doing them two, I'll suprise you. Thanks.
mikey
Hey Janey, if the pig make's you laugh, thats fine, glad to, cheers.
mikey
Hi Carrie, I think I've got my set together now, just ran through it. Thankyou very much, and I hope you enjoy the show.
mikey
Hey Tom, great minds think alike mate, you know where I'm at.
Thanks for the advise Tom, gratefully accepted, I think that I will start with 'You', and then two more on conventional tuning, then a couple on DADGAD, like 'Pigeon'and maybe 'Clever girl', I'm still not completely sure. Anyway, thankyou very much, I hope you really enjoy the show.
mikey
Thanks Mike, really appreciate it.
mikey
Hi Elizebeth A, really sorry to hear that you won't be able to watch on Sunday, I'm sure there will be a recording of the event. Anyway, work it at your family party. Everyone's asking for 'Feel my Heat', but I'm not that happy with the way it sounds live at the moment, I mean without mandolins, it just doesn't sound as big and full. I'll give a go one day, so you can see what I mean. Thanks for posting, hope you can watch the Christmas special In the attic.
mikey
Hey Susie, thankyou so much, your comment really reminded me what I am about, that really does help me, thankyou.
Also, I've mapped out the song 'Matches' and I've been practising this week, I was thinking of playing it at the Christmas special 'In the attic' show. Thanks again.
mikey
Hi Mikey, not long now!! Really looking forward to Sunday. Plasticine for me please. If I'm not mistaken, I think Jill and myself were the first Bloggers you met. You'll meet loads of Bloggers on Sunday. Should be fun. Mark
That's right Mark, you took my blogging cherry mate, then Charlotte I think, it was great to put a face to a name. On sunday there will be loads, and you can get to meet them as well, isn't it weird, like a secret society, blogger's are even being mentioned on Newsnight, that's when I thought, hang on a minute. I hope me and Rene can say hello on Sunday, take care mate.

It sounds like you've got a really good plan for your set Mikey. Putting the DADGAD songs together at the end of the set is definitely the right thing to do. The open tuning makes those songs sound louder and more full and would actually make a standard tuning song sound a bit thin if you played one after.
You've got so many great songs that I forgot about 'Clever Girl'. You should definitely play that one, it's an excellent song. Just remember to add the middle eight :)
Thanks so much for letting us work on your set with you - it's so much fun!
Don't be suprised if the audience starts singing along with the ending of "My Pigeon Friend" because I'm betting they will.
Tom
I would love that to happen Tom, thanks for all your help, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'd never really considered the extra volume of DADGAD, I had always played that tuning last, thanks for letting me know why.
I'll also make sure I remember the middle 8 of 'Clever girl'.
Thankyou very much Tom, kind regards.
mikey
Heh, Mikey,we know you definitely have other things to do ( understatement), but if you want to learn the chords to an obscure Jimmy Page/Screamin Lord Sutch song, I just posted another of my funny home clips. If anyone wants to learn it, really.
My friends and I had all passed this ancient album around, "Smoke and Fire",when we were kids,
got all kinds of odd people on it.Cozy Powell, John Bonham.Basically a lot of English blues dudes from around the mid to late 60's.
The song is called "Flashing Lights".
Screamin Lord mutilates it vocally, but it was just the most swingin' rockin' guitar song.Wish I could add some bass and drums to my cover of it.
And hey Tom, that's IF he plays "Pigeon Friend!"
Bye Mikey!
xoLisa
I get the irony, Mikey!
I took a picture of a funny sign on a tiny hotel/restaurant in India - it had a picture of a goat and a chicken and it said "Meet me anywhere but Eat Me Here!"
(Because of course in India they let all the animals wander around...everything is free range in India!).
I'm practicing Plasicine. I'll have to record it in my kitchen! I'm waiting for my hubby to come home and set up my "studio!"
Can't wait for Sunday!!! yee ha!
Mikey~ You are so kind to respond. No worries about your not playing certain songs,as some other kind people have said; just have fun!!
Oh, and thanks for letting me know the show will be recorded. Makes me feel better!
*quick funny story for ya: *
My husband picked up his new car this evening and he took Em and me for a quick ride. It's very cold here at the moment , so he remarked proudly about how well the heater worked and I thought of your song and said, "Yes, I can feel your heat!!"
Okay, so it's not that funny.....
Take care Mikey~ and All The Very Best for a great show!
Much love~
Elizabeth A
Best of luck
Dear Mikey
You have certainly captured a pig.
I've lived on the farm & got know & like some pigs personally.
They liked me, especially at feeding time. They are quite the little characters in real life!
Only 36 more hours!
Love
Dale
Hey Lisa, I come over after the show on Sunday, thanks.
mikey
Hey Elizebeth A, I loved your story and laughed out loud.
Thankyou for your lovely message, take care.
mikey
Hi Dale, you know exactly what I mean, they are very clever animals arne't they. Times a ticking. Thanks for posting, take care.

I'm glad this blog post is old, it's not 3 days to go anymore, it's tomorrow. Yeah!!!
We're rooting for you guys and as someone else said, whatever you choose to play, it will be most excellent.
This really is kind of exciting,
See you tomorrow, literally. :D
xoLisa
