MY HOME STUDIO...

Here's a couple of photo's of my home studio set up, back when I first got it, it was constructed, designed and thought out by Pete, I have previously posted 'My Recording Process', and in that I explained what everything is. I must admit, I was very scared of the towering beast when I first got it home, I didn't record on it for the first six months, but since then, I have got to love it more each day.
I have thanked Pete, but will do again here, ' I am eternally grateful to Pete for the constant help and guidance he has offered me.'
I am also very grateful to Rachel, as without her, not only would I not have a blog, but I wouldn't be on the show, or would I have met Pete, and many things besides.

Sorry, that I've neglected this blog, I was exhausted after my journey on thursday, and it's taken me a while to recoup my energy.

Yesterday evening I took the video camera out onto the beach and made a film of the sunset. The colours were extraordinary, its only short, but I hope I can get it on to DVD soon and show you.

Thanks to everyone for posting on this blog, and supporting me, thankyou very much and I hope you'll come back for more, and maybe check out my Indonesian blog, which I do keep up to date, or have done up to now.

Thanks again bloggers, and give me a shout.

Mikey~ So glad you're feeling better....Episodes like you had are draining to the emotions as well as the physical; so REST, be well, and take extra good care for the next few days.

You are very dear to all of us.

Selamat siang, Mikey! Good to know you're doing better..

Looks like a great set-up. Although, to be honest, I don't even know what any of them do. I wish to learn about recording techniques soon; maybe during my spare time after graduation next year. I'm sure I'll turn to you for advice (if that's okay?!?)

Salam, teman..

Hey Mikey. That's a terrific looking setup. Pete is just awesome, did you hear he posted on my blog with help on how to get the most out of Ableton Live. It knocked me out.

Since you have posted a photo of your studio, I felt obligated to post a picture of my music room on my blog also. I call it "Pete's Corner", for er... obvious reasons.

I'm really going to miss seeing you on In The Attic, but I know there are great things on the horizon for you friend. I really hope we get to meet you and Rene on Dec 4th. Cheers

I shouldn't be surprised to see a tape deck, but I am. I went looking for the 'recording process' post but couldn't find it. Tape is pretty lush. My ideal studio would have tape and digital media. That's why I was trying to find your list of gear. Curious.

Looks like a very impressive set up to me. You have much in common with a lot of us around here, Pete is an inspiration to all of us. To you much more directly, you are one lucky guy and very talented so you you have earned it. I can write the words fairly easily but I wish I had the talent and ability to put them to music, you are blessed!

I'd be overwhelmed by all the knobs and buttons! I've loved your accoustic work and expect nothing less to hear the full sha-bang when your CD comes out.

I look forward to seeing your sunset footage. I'm always touched by your art - including that on film (or that which was formerly film since we are in the digital age ...)

Hi Mikey, maybe I'm thick but at first glance it looked like it was a 10 foot high set up. Then I noticed it was two photos together. Nice to see you back in the world of Blogging again. When we move I will be setting up a music room. Just bought an electric guitar and will persevere learning this time. Get that CD out!! Mark

Mikey,

I know what you mean about the "warm" feeling tape provides. My little demo studio is all digital, digital four track and then into the computer to be mixed and mastered. I spend a lot of time with mic placement and then on the mixing side trying to keep the warmth I may have captured and adding it where I can.

Mikey,
I just went out and grabbed a Lexicon Mx200 Dual Reveb effects Processor/with compressor. I think I am going to run my mics thru that and then into the mixer/recorder to improve and boost the vocals. I hope it will work and bring out the vocals more. Is it a good idea???? michael :)

Hi used to use a lexicon midi-verb unit, and that was really cool, I don't know about the equipment you mentioned, but it sounds a good idea. I was saying to someone the other day, how a singer doesn't truly appreciate his own voice, because he's had it all his life. You should consider this when you listen to yourself.

Hey Janey, thanks for the comment here, I hope I can get a CD out soon, although I am very much an accoustic artist, and any music I release would complement that I'm sure. Hope that doesn't dissapoint you. Maybe some day.
Hi Mark, hope Jill is good, no I haven't got the biggest home studio in the world, my clever image manipulation didn't fool you for a second Mr.Bond. Sorry about that Mark, I just went a bit mental. Well done for persevering with the guitar, if I can help, let me know.
Hi AndyW, it's a great way to find out how to do it on digital.
Hey Mike, thankyou mate, I was sitting thinking that my music wasn't rock'n enough, and then remembered what I was doing when I read your comment. You have helped me in a really big way, thankyou.
And thanks for posting.

Hey Mikey - thanks for the reply! We mostly a soul cover band - if you go to my blog there's a link to out site - ignore the MP3s - the new ones will be alot better and I'd be interested to hear your opinion about out digital recordings when they're uploaded. We get quite alot of work at weddings/functions and also play on average once a month at the Jazz Cafe Reading or Jagz in Ascot - lots of fun!
Looking forward to hearing you again tonight and on the 4th of course.
