BIG FISH...

Me and Rene had a great time at my Mum's boat on the weekend, we travelled up on saturday afternoon and spent the night, as well as my brother Shaun and Lisa and Jed. All of us sleeping on the boat, which was a bit of a squeeze, but never the less a great time. It was made even greater when I saw my float go under the water, and I landed this fish, a beautiful male Bream. It is the biggest fish I have ever caught, I think I already explained by bad luck, but not this time. I was stunned, and felt like a small child, it was an amazing experience, am I mental or something.
Anyway, we got home late last night, and had a very lazy day today, Rene inform's me that the gig at Club Riga is under a week away, and I think there's a few of you blogger's coming, you will be in for a great night, I am only supporting the great 'Casbah Club', they are fantastic, so I want to do a great show.
Thankyou everyone for some great shout's and compliment's here, I am very lucky to receive such corespondance, I hope you all had a good weekend, take care all, and GMaS.

Mikey,

You know things are quite different fishing wise between the UK and the US. Nevertheless, nice fish.

So when are you going to start doing some club dates over here?

Hey Mikey! That's a beautiful fish. It rivals the size of the biggest fish that I have ever caught... It was a large rock fish that I gaught at Catalina Island. It was a bit smaller though, I think. I normally catch small trout in lakes. Did you release him?

I wish I could go to the gig, but unfortuneately I live on the other side ofthe world. Poo.

GMaS!

I told Rachel that I'll probably have some more cartoons up by tomorrow, so perhaps you can show them on this week's ITA!

Take care, Mikey.

Good luck on your gig supporting Casbah Club. I am sure you will be brilliant. I am sorry I will not be able to see you perform. Hopefully someday though.

See you on Wednesday.

What a beautiful fish! Do you eat then?
It is so exciting catching fish--of any size really. We are going on vacation to Costa Rica this wednesday-we are planning on fishing a few times--hope we catch something.
I also wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your songs--so many times I wake up and your tunes are still in head. Makes me smile!

Have a great time at the gig--Wish I could be there to see you and Simon-How fun is that!
Take care

Where I live Mikey (A village called Youngstown, north of Niagara Falls), it's where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario. Anyhoot, I guess the big delicacy is smelt fish. I never liked them, but many people eat them like candy.

Hey, if the tour ever gets to my area, We need to do a night at the local speed way on a Friday night (modified stock car on a dirt track). Beer and Wings afterwards!

I could tell it was a male because of the raised nodes's on his head, which the males get around breeding season, fish don't have willies.
Thankyou everyone, Pat, I plan to do some small club's in America where ever I can whilst on tour with 'The Who' this year, hope I can get near you.
Hey Kevin, yes I did release him, fit and healthy, it is very important to me, although I do enjoy eating the fish I catch. Cheer's mate.
Thank's Cara, you are a sweet soul.
I'll check'em out Lindsay, thank's.
Thank's Zoe, take care and thankyou. Cheer's Kara.
Thank's Belinda, have a great time in Costa Rica, I'm very jealous, thank's again, hope you catch a big one. Thankyou Elaine.
Sound's like a fine evening Jim, really cool, hope to be some place near, I bet the river fishing is good as well, thank's mate.
Nodules on the head K, thank's very much, I knew I shouldn't have said male Bream. LOL. Take care all and thankyou again.

Beauty!

The look on your face IS the little kid face. We all make it when we catch a whopper fish like that one! I have some great photos of my son A.J. at various ages with his Big Fish of the summer.

Pretty appropriate with this week being Life Aquattic week!!!!

Smiling,
Brina (back from California, I blogged photos every day I was there, hope you get a chance to take a peek)

Hey Joeboy, yes mate, I should do a fishing fashion tip's, like 'when Bream fishing, wear Hamnet green top'. I think I should leave the fashion tip's to Rachel.
I'd love to hear about your kayak fishing some more, and what you fish for, sound's cool, thank's mate, take care.
Thankyou Brina, but it isn't The Life Aquattic, this week, it's next week, tomorrow's show is just a normal IN THE ATTIC, if there has ever been a normal show that is, I think not, I'll check your blog out now.

That's brilliant Tomoko, what a brilliant way to capture the unique pattern's and size of the fish, thank's for that information, I didn't eat this one, but I'm not opposed to eating fish I catch, in fact there is nothing better.
Take care and see you on the show.

This is a great pic, too.
I'm glad that you let the fish go, but I would've understood if you'd kept him.:)
And btw I bet sleeping on a boat would be good, the lull of the water. Cramped or not.
I'm sure you're going to have such a great show with CC, I wish I could be there. Anyway, have a good one you guys!xoxoLisa:)

A belated thank-you for the shout out on ITA... it was very sweet of you, thanks.

And I'm jealous you've been hanging out on the houseboat. My father sold his narrowboat a few years back and I miss it so much. Fresh air, easy going lifestyle, mooring up for a pub lunch, spending too long opening the lock gates as I'd done a slight detour to go blackberry picking on the sly, gentle excercise with the walks and the locks, and then being rocked to sleep everytime another flamin boat went past in the middle of the night, LOL!

I don't really miss the day my dad fell in the canal and then we tried to moor up by driving a stake directly into a bees nest on the banking though. Not one of our best days.

Useless facts:

If you still read this, this is what mark_t said:
"At two minutes and three seconds past one on 4th May 2006 it will be 01:02:03 04/05/06."

I've got another one:
At 6 minutes and 6 seconds past 6 on 6th of June 2006 it will be 06:06:06 06/06/06

Creepy.

Anyway, lots of hugs and kisses!

Hiya Mikey,
Just wanted to drop a belated word about the video you showed last week at the end of ITA. It was smashing! I want to see (or hear)it more! I thought the background "noises" (birds singing, wind blowing) made a wonderful addition to your song, your voice and your guitar.
Have a great show this weekend (break a leg, thats for good luck!?!) you will be terrific and HAVE FUN!
Wish i were there. Please share some stories.

Hi Mikey,

What a great show you all did this week! Thanks so much.

Rachel was cute talking about you and fish. Did I hear her say that you were known to catch a small fish and then kiss it before tossing it back? I've done that!

I've also been known to talk to the fish, both before catching and once I've hooked 'em. My whole family makes fun of me. The worst is if the hook is in the fish in such a way that it's not possible to save it and toss it back. Then I am really quite upset.

Anyway, there's a little kid in each of us. Some of us just show it more easily than others. You and Rachel, Pete and Simon show yours very often, and that's part of why I love you guys. Mr. E-mail Break-Up guy (who wants me back) showed me his little kid side often in the last year or two, and I fell in love with him partly 'cause of that...sigh.

Hugs,
Brina
