IT BEGINS...
So it begin's, just like a dream or fantasy, my very first tour, and it's a world tour with In The Attic and the Who. It has finally dawned on me, exactly how lucky I am, it's behond luck, it's heaven. The test at Bray went really well, but the first gig was at Leeds. At the same historic location of the 'Live at Leeds' Who album.
Rene gave me a lift to the airport, where I met up with the band(the who) and got on the private plane that took us up to Leed's, I've never flown on a private jet before, and rest assured, it's pretty darn cool. I sat and chatted to Rabbit, he has got some amazing stories and is a really lovely bloke, I'd worked with him a few year's ago, and can only hope to work with him again one day. We landed at Leed's and got in a plush van thing, and went staight to the gig.
The airstream(Magic bus) looked amazing with the cartoon's of us all on the side, everything set in place for a great show. I played 'A Better me', and was pleased to see Gary put it up on Attic Radio, cheer's Gaz. Rachel played and sung beautifully, Pete and Si were there usual brilliant selves and it was an absolute honer to meet Sir Peter Blake.
I was also really pleased to meet the radio one DJ Andy Kershaw, he came on the show, and later I gave him a copy of my new EP, let's hope he like's it and play's it. I watched the Who perform from the side of the stage by the door's, it was really hot in there, but sounded amazing. After the gig, we flew back, a driver took me home from the airport, and I was back home. It felt very stange, like it had been a dream.
Next morning, straight up and headed off to Brighton for the next gig, Rene drove down there, but we hit the most terrible traffic going in to Brighton centre, I left Rene in the car to find a parking place, and went on foot to find the venue. The reason for the traffic was that there was a charity bicycle race that day, and it had frozen up all the traffic. Anyway, it was a horrible journey, but all ended well, when I got to the venue in good time, Rene arrived safe and sound a while later but got to watch the show outside the bus with load's of other people.
The show went really well, I performed Torture with Rachel on the piano, it really add's another layer. It was nice to see that Gary had put that on Attic Radio, but there seem's to be a glitch, it's a real shame, because it sound's slightly out of time now, but you still get the idea, unless that is, if Gaz has changed it already, please do Gary, if it's possible.
I was very happy to play the guitar for Rachel, as she sang Pretty Heart, which was one of the first song's that we used to play originally in the attic many year's ago. Chris Difford, Mel and Dori came on the show and were outstanding, I love that music, they are great, and I gave Chris a CD. The very funny and famous Tracy Almond was on the show, being very funny, and signing the board, she had a number one in the UK penned by the beautiful Kirsty Mcall, I think I've spelt her name wrong, I'm sorry. Pete played a great song on the Yuke, which was amazing. Si came in and gave us a song, then went on and played with the Casbah Club, and then again with the Who, he is awsome.
Me and Rene watched what we could of the Who perform from round the side, with Mark and Bruce and Bruce from the Casbah Club, it would be great to see them IN THE ATTIC someday.
It was also really great to see Mark and Jill and Delbut, I hope they all had a brilliant time. Me and Rene headed back home slightly before the Who finished, hoping to beat the rush, we seemed to do it, and got back home safe and sound. It has been super cool, now I'm looking forward to Leeds, the next one's not at the university, but is at a festival. Hope you like the shot's, take care all and give me a shout.

Very nice pics indeed. I was interested to know a little bit more about the Magic Bus so its cool to see the Control Centre. Hope you can post more of these candid behind-the-scenes shots. Indeed Tracey 'Almond' Ullman was a hoot and I was physically in tears. Enjoying the show, and hope to see you in Boston when you manage to haul the Magic Bus across the Atlantic. All the best mate. - PT
Wonderful post Mikey. Your really good at this; documenting your experiences.
I love the picture of you and Rachel. I am a sucker for candid shots!!
So, glad Rene made it to the show. What a trip!!
It would be so cool for Casbah Club to make an appearance on ITA!! Come on guys, we would love to see you all!
Can't wait for more of your "insiders" view. And, as always, looking forward to your cd release, seeing and hearing you perform live, and well, that is quite a lot to look forward to, isn't it?
Stay well, and hears your SHOUT!
-Sue
Thanks for all the detailed info, Mikey! This is what the fans love to hear (other than your brilliant tunes, of course). Unfortunately, I've missed broadcasts of the first two shows here in America (that pesky thing called 'work' got in the way!) :( Wish you all will loop Attic from these someday. Tracey's one of my all-time favorite comediennes. Used to be obsessed with re-runs of her show here.
Keep blogging/rocking/'streaming in the free world. Congratulations on living the dream!
Hey Mikey!!
Great post! I thought I was late (as usual) but I see you just wrote it today.
I'm sooooooo excited for you, Rachel, the Who and Casbah Club.
I love how you are so grateful and (not to embarass you or anything) but you are "seem" innocent - um maybe not jaded is a better way to put it! Of course this whole scene is new to you - and we will all enjoy hearing about your adventures in rock 'n roll from a "green" perspective.
So cool!
I can't wait for the next ITA.
Keep up the wonderful posts (I know it's hard - I am SOOOO behind it's very sad and now I don't know where to begin).
Better run. Going to see the movie "Cars" today. Should be cute.
Take care and be well,
Lots and lots of good wishes and love,
Sue D.
Good morning Mikey,
I have only time to see your pictures in this moment. GREAT!
My shout to you first this evening.
Wish you and Rene a good day
Stefan
Dear Mikey,
I do believe you'll still remember us bloggers when you become more famous...congrats on your first tour, and it's great to read and see your impressions.
I'm ever so proud of you. You seem to be hitting your stride on many levels. I adore seeing you and Rachel together. "Pretty Heart" just made me so happy.
Having some soul-searching time here while I'm home recuperating from surgery. My place is very quiet at times, and I have to fill it up with music! My teenager is going to France next week, his first trip abroad. Very exciting, at 16.
Love and hugs to you and Rene. Brina
Thank you for sharing - it does seem like a dream, even for me too! Can't wait to see ya on the next ITA. Be well, Be happy.

Hi Mikey - I saw you and Rene at the side of the stage and you waving your lighter with Rachel in See Me Feel Me. It really was a fantastic gig and yes, you are the luckiest guy in the world right now!
Hi Mikey
Shame you left early. I met Rachel after the show in her motorhome (she is cool isn't she!)- would have been great to see you too! Maybe at the next one!
Take care
SteveH
So it Was you I saw by the door! I thought I recognised you, in fact I was convinced. It was very distracting. But you didn't notice me. I kept looking at you during Cry if You Want but I couldn't get any closer to the fence to wave at you.
Shout for yeh, Mikey!
Those pictures are great... I love the expressions on yours and Rachel's faces! (And nice shot of Roger's elbow, as well.) XD
Hope you're having fun, it sounds like you are! Cheers!
Love,
-L-
Hi Mikey,
great write up, gosh, I wish I could have been there, but Stephani and I had a wonderful time watching the shows. I was actually supposed to be in our bathroom taking up the old tile with a hammer and chisel, but because Attic is a higher priority around here, I was able to delay that pain till the afternoon.
That's a pretty spankin looking bus you all have, wow, and thanks for the other shots so we can see where the control room was. I had wondered what it looked like in there. Our goal is to climb aboard and say hello.
You know me with my hearing, I listened to Torture again and you're right mate there is a slight timing problem so I took it down for now. "Better Me" is awesome, I love it. Let me know if you are going to put it onto your official IAC page, that way you can start racking up chart position and I will just link to your posted version, it is a great song.
I'm usually listening to the weekday shows on headphones at work, then capturing the songs as we watch the loop on a reliable feed later in the evening, so, I'm usually able to capture the songs. It was a bit tricky this time because Rachel sings several songs one after the other and my capture program thingy is usually writing the MP3 when she starts the next song. We'll get better at it. Attic Radio is always in the top stations.
Well mate, I'm so extremely envious of you, I hope you are keeping a journal of this one mate, it would make a fine screenplay for a movie.
:-)
Hey Mikey!!!
Long time no hear.. I can't wait for you guys to hit the States. I hope you swign by my area and then we can go for some excellent Buffalo Style Chicken Wings (right at where they were invented, The Anchor Bar). Or would you prefer Beef-On-Wick (Roast beef on a Kimmelwick bun which is a large bun with salt crystals ans carroway seeds on top of the bun)?
Anyway, glad to just GMAS to ya!
Mikey, you are awesome! Your songs are great too...I had a song I did with an old band in the 80's called Plasticine!! Yours is better though...one post said you seemed innocent well I see what they mean...you are in it for the music not the hype and it shows! I love you in ITA!! You and Rachel make a great duo!
If you get to Arizona in the states I will be in the front row! Congrats on all your music and a wonderful road ahead!!
Long Live Rock!!
