LEEDS WIRELESS FESTIVAL...
Since the Brighton gig, I'd spent the week relaxing and working on new music, catching up with my family and spending time with my Rene. The weather was fine, and I had a lovely week. I really appreciated all the great shout's I got on the last blog, thankyou everyone, I'm glad your enjoying it.
On Sunday, I awoke very early for me, got my thing's ready and Rene gave me a lift to the train station. This time I wasn't travelling with the band, because IN THE ATTIC was going on-WIRE much earlier and the show was running for two hours because of all the great guest's we were having on. So, at 11am I caught a train to London, then caught another train from London to Leed's, which got me there at 3:45pm, and from there I jumped into a taxi with a couple going to the festival, the couple in the taxi were big EEL'S fans.
I arrived at the gig at some time after 4pm, I was given an artist's wrist-band, and went staight to the motorhome for a long anticipated cup of tea. Everyone was really excited, the show began, and kicked off with THE FLAMMING LIPS, who were incredible, they done a version of CAN'T EXPLAIN by THE WHO, it was suberb, and we are had a great laugh. Then ROSE HILL DRIVE came on and performed, I really enjoyed there performance, and they were a really lovely bunch of fella's, I look forward to them coming back on the show. Last but by no mean's least was E from the EELS, he was super cool in his flying jacket and goggles.
I played YOU with Rachel, and I thought it sounded cool, Pete was his usual brilliant self, but I missed Simon. The show flashed by, it really seem's to get quicker and quicker. We left the magic bus and I watched THE FLAMMING LIPS perform from the side of the stage, they were superb, and then watched THE WHO perform from the rear of stage right, I got some cool photo's.
It was a shame that I missed the Canadian Grand Prix, and the England game, but I wouldn't want it any other way. After THE WHO came off stage, I jumped in the bus with them, and flew back to London in the private plane. I had had an amazing day, but was very tired. I hope everyone got to enjoy the show, let me know what you thought, I hope everyone is doing good and feeling fine, take care all and GMaS...

Heya Mikey,
I think I'm first :o
Wow, sounds like you're having a great time. How do you like Leeds? The North is The Best.
One of my friends was in the audiece, I was dead jealous. But I was on stage in Huddersfield with Richard Fleeshman (who?) so I couldn't even watch the broadcast.
Looking forwards to Hyde Park though, I can see that one (finally!).
Enjoy Bristol
Love Rachel T
The show looks like it was a blast! I loved The Flaming Lips "plunder the covers" of "Can't Explain"..! XD
Amazing photos.. looks like you really are living the dream, Mikey! Have fun, stay safe and all that. *shout*
Love,

THANKS FOR THE STERLING BACKSTAGE COVERAGE OF YOUR TOUR!
Mikey, will you be watching the US Grand Prix this Sunday? I know it's relatively 'lame' compared to the other races (esp. after what happened last year. I had nothing to do with that :), but it is in my hometown. And it's the closest we'll ever get to a proper f1 event. If you & Rene ever decide to attend, I'll have a fresh pot of tea waiting for you. Although in this weather, we prefer to drink something a bit chillier--like a cold glass of Newcastle.
Funny thing. Last trip to London, I walked into a pub shortly after arriving and asked for a Newcastle. They told me I'd have to go to Newcastle to find this commonly served. I told the server that we drink it like water in the Midwest (a bit of an exaggeration but it is quite common.) Hmmm.
Thanks for the great report Mikey!!
Hope to see you at one of the forthcoming gigs!!

Mikey,
The Brighton show was great.
How much is the show cutting into your fishing time?
Looking forward to the next one.

Hi Mikey,
I think it must be a great feeling on the road. It was a fantastic ITA show last sunday. Most of all I liked "The flamming lips". The version of "I Can't explain" was excellent.
The next from Bristol I can see, but the ITA from Belgium is not possible for me, because we are going to see the drama "Cyrano from Bergerac". It's an open air show from the theatre. I hope the weather will be good this evening, withou rain.
Bye, bye
Stefan
Hey Mikey,
I loved the song you played with Rachel. Was it called "You"? Marvellous.
I also liked The Flaming Lips's "plunder the covers" of "I Can't Explain".
I wish I could go to the Bristol gig, or even the Belgian one. I live in Belgium and I've got no one to go to the gig. So, I'm not going. Quite sad, really. But anyway, I will see the ITA webcast. And I've got a link to see the whole Who concert. Well, hopefully. The Who can always tell that they don't want to be on *that* webcast. I can give you the link, though it's in Dutch and the gigs will be 'broadcasted' from Thursday till Tuesday. I'm not sure if it's on these sites, but I'll keep you updated:

Hola Mikey!!!
Hey, I'm glad that you are having a great time....The last show was fantastic, I specially liked E from EELs, haha, yes he was super cool...I loved his voice.
I went to the kitchen to look for a coke, and when I came back you were disappeared....I could hear you, but couldn't see you because you were behind Rachel......it was funny to see just the top of your head, haha....
YOU sounded fantastic, great performance!!!
Thanks a lot for sharing the photos.....enjoy tomorrows show in Bristol, I'll be watching.
If you ever want a little summary of any Grand Prix just let me know, I normally watch all of them.
Love,
Elena

Mikey:
Really do appreciate the neat photos!
Keep up the great work! That was a rather plentiful blog post you put up, here. That kind of stuff is really fun to be a part of. Out here, we just continue to do the daily 'groundhog day" thing...over, and over again...seems so unfullfilling at times. It is great to come home from work today, the hot 106 degrees, etc., and enjoy your blog post.
It means a lot...can you tell?
See ya,
--Dan L.
mikey,
you were quite funny on the ITA show.
kepp up the good!
best
tmac.
Looked like agreat show. I wish I could have been there. The England game wasin't that good anyway, England palyed badly but won. Now that Spain is out of it I want England to win, I am part english. Once again, I can't wait to see you and the rest of the ITA people to show up in LA. Unfortunately, summer school has been keeping me busy so I couldin't watch ITA on the road except for one time. Stupid Biology... GMaS!

Mikey - Question about the Brighton show: what happened the Chris Difford Question/Competition for the ITA Jacket?
Mikey,
Good show tonight. Plasticine is always a good one.
I am taking some fishing gear to Ireland with the hope I may get to use it.
hope to see you in Dublin.

Hi Mikey!!
Tonights show was brilliant! Loved Plasticene. It was extra special with Pete and Rachel joining in. This was the first show I could watch live.
Loved your pics of Brighton, hope to see more. See you on Friday!

Hi Mikey, just wanted to say I loved this bit of ITA last night:
PETE
If any blogger can get me, in a week, a DVD of Hyde Park, with surround sound, I'll give you ten thousands dollars.
MIKEY
I'll bring my camera! Job done!
PETE
With surround sound.
MIKEY
I can move it around!
Made me laugh.
Mikey...
Plasticine is just such a kick ass song. That is going to be such a hit for you. You did a great verison on ITA...
Mikey, what a great song, Plasticine, I loved your performance!!!
The shows are so professionally done, we can see the improvements in camera angles, and yesterday, the room sound was so fantastic on headphones, much better than the other day with the loud rumble. The mics they are using have been setup really well, it sounds like we are right there, which I couldn't always say about the shows from the actual attic.
Did you mention you saw El Wisty?
Great pictures Mikey.
Wow, I love these concert posts, makes one feel almost like they were there!
Do you ever feel like you are on that show Amazing Race?
Where they are running around jumping from train to car to plane to train to car to train? Or maybe that movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles? lol :)
Thanks for keeping us caught up.xoxoLisa
WAY TO GO MIKEY!!! You are awesome!! I love Plasticine on the show...Pete and Rachel doing backups!!!
YOU ROCK!!!
Meant to post earlier. You guys are hysterical and talented. Keep up the good work. Enjoyed it all.
Hey Mikey,
hope you're enjoying yourself on the tour.
I wanted to say I really like your song Plasticene (performed on the last show). I've only heard it on ITA so don't know how it sounds on recording. But I wanted to suggest it would be great done just a little slower and more mellow, with a bit of a gentle rolling rhythm (if that makes any sense). I guess I mean it would be great rolling along like a gentle summer breeze. A little percussion behind it etc.
Anyway, take care on keep up the good work.
Hi Mikey,
great pictures! That must've been an awesome show! I wish I had been there, but I have to agree with nabonidus, the pictures do make me feel like I was.
I haven't heard The Flaming Lip's version of "I Can't Explain" yet, but I will someday.
Have a great weekend!
Hi Mikey,
Haven't visited for a while - my loss, I'm afraid. Just wanted to drop by and say how much I'm enjoying you on ITA. You're so confident with your performing now, and you're obviously loving it all. I hope the added exposure gives your career the boost it deserves!
PS: Just left the following note about your head on Rachel's blog. Please take it as a compliment:
btw, I love the concept of the red drape at the back - very cosy and intimate. So intimate that when Mikey was sitting at the keyboard by himself I did think his head looked very clitoris-like in the context. (Clitoristic? Maybe in the same dictionary as testosteronic).
Hope you don't mind! Will get organised and come back soon,
Love, m x

Hey Mikey,
What great shows so far!!!!
I come back from work and ITA is my sole happy moment of the day.
I loved the We Will Fix It maxi single version last night. Did you know I have my own ITA station now? http://iacmusic.com/station.aspx?StationID=2349
We Will Fix It and Matches are there, but we definetely need more songs from you!
We would like to invite you and Rene to a little get together on Monday 10th of July, in London. I know it will be between Glasgow and Germany, but if you come it will be just fantastic. Anne-Marie, James Casey, Steve H, Jonathan Beck, me of course will go for Greek souvlakia in Earls Court.
You and Rene are most welcome.
So you (and anyone else who would like to join) email me. My email is on my profile.
Until then,
Have LOOOOOOOTS OF FUN in your festivals! Hope I bump into you in Hyde Park tomorrow too!
