END OF UK TOUR...ON TO EUROPE...

Wow, what a time I've had, Rene came with me to Hyde Park festival, we got the train and then a black cab to the gates. We made our way to the airstream, and soon began the show. We had the most amazing guest's on, Razorlight and Ed Hardcourt, Rose hill drive came on again, and the show was aired on the huge screen in the Hard Rock tent. Rene had to go home on her own as I was travelling to Beaulieu with the magic bus. We packed up and left, and drove through the night to Beaulieu, which is actually the area where I used to holiday as a child. White stripe's was written very close to where we were playing, whilst camping with Rene. It is a gorgeous area, although the road's very twisty and up and down, but horses and deer run wild. The gig went very well, it was good to see Mark T and his son, who gave me a gorgeous jar of honey from his hol's, thank's mate, Delbut, Kenny and Sarah, and Charlotte and Laura, to whom I owe a great debt of thank's, because Charlotte gave me a lift home, she is such a sweetie, so is Laura.
As I say, I had the next day off, and then travelled to Liverpool by train, I court a black and white cab to the gig, which was being held in a huge blue and yellow fairground tent. I can't remeber what I played, but we had a great band on called Shack, the Who were awesome as ever, and I escorted Charlotte and Laura her friend to the side of the stage, for a great view and thank's. I stayed in a great hotel that night, and walked to the gig the next day. We had another great show with the Casbah club playing, they were fantastic, but there's been so many that I'm forgetting some amazing people, I know I am, please help.... Anyway, from Liverpool, I flew with the band to Dublin, which is a beautiful city, and spent the next day sleeping in my lovely hotel room. The next day, accompanied with Rene, who travelled overnight to meet me in the morning, went to the gig, which seemed to be surrounded by a hurricane, strange, as in Dublin it was fine. It was touch and go, but when we finished the show, it felt good, against the odd's.
Packed up after a hard long great show, and drove with the bus's to T- in the Park, Scotland. I didn't manage an hour's sleep, and when we got to the site, the place was a mud bath. The show went on, although it was a tight one, all the crew deserved medal's. I was very tired and didn't feel I gave enough thank's to the guest's, E from the Eel's was amazing, he bewitched me... and Regina Speckter was incredible and unique, as well as beautiful, it was another amazing show, yet again there were other incredible guest's, it's just I'm going to run out of expleative's soon.
After the show, I was completely wiped out, Rachel sent me home for a rest, so we haven't done the Bonn show with the Who... But I've had some time to recouperate, next is Berlin tomorrow.... I know I'm a nightmare, but I left my camera in Scotland, what a nightmare, but at least I took some on my new phone, hope everyone is watching the show's, we're all working really hard... I'm also having difficulties blogging, or finding time with a computer, so I'm sorry, but it may be some time before you get the next installment, I hope I can get my act together soon, anywho, take care all, thank's for all the great shout's, I really appreaciate them, keep watching the show, and of course GMaS!!!

MIKEY!!!!!

You have been doing such a GREAT job with Rach. One can watch Attic and simply feel the amazingly warm welcome you give all your guests.
You are so real. You are so cool.

I thought of you the other day. Down by the sea I was walking along (with my i-pod) enjoying the sun and the feel of the water on my feet and I saw a tiny fish flapping in the sand. I gently picked him up and carried him W-A-Y out, beyond where the waves were breaking and let him go.

I know that if you had been there you would have known what to do.
I hope so much that he lived.

Anyway! Take good care, please. You are all working so hard!!

I know what you mean about T in the park , it was so muddy but was totally worth it as The Who played a great set!
Thanks for the mention in the blog too :D but as I said at the time the lift home was no problem at all, glad I was able to help.
Hopefully see you soon!

Hi Mikey,
Don't worry about keeping up with everything. Your entries here have been amazing. And, they will certainly tide us over for a while.

I loved what Pete said about you in his latest diary entry. You actually do mirror how a lot of us feel. The music and muscianship that is being introduced to us via ITA, has been incredible. And, I truly LOVE all of it. You show such enthusiasm, unbridled and honest. I think that is the coolest quality about you.

That said, it has been hard for me to keep up with all the shows. I missed the one with E and the eels, is it? And Regina. Hopefully I will catch a loop somewhere.

I am glad you got a much needed rest.....

I hope the hardest days of the tour are behind you, and that the weather cooperates from now on. Please let all the ITA crew know, that we think they are doing a fabulous job and they are all greatly appreciated.

Stay well, Mikey

Dear Mikey, I so appreciate all the work, travel, and energy it takes to do what you guys are doing. Thank you.

Your fashion tip was brilliant! I loved it. Also, that song you and Rachel started the recent ITA with, I'm blanking out on the title, it is a one-word title, I'd never heard it before and I just love it. Have you recorded it? Is it "Sorry"? (I think I'm wrong on the title.)

Did you get a haircut?

Please give a hello and love to Rene.

I can't wait to hear the news tomorrow of the U.S. tour. I'm hoping I can make it to one. The ideal would be if you were coming here to Minneapolis, but that seems like too much of a dream come true to me!

Stay well, pace yourself, love, Brina

P.S. What Pete wrote about you on his diary is so true. You are genuine and positive and enthusiastic. I love that about you.

Hi Mikey, It's always great to see your cheery self on ITA! Your good vibes always show through. I really missed watching while traveling in the UK! Its such a cool thing you guys are doing! All the traveling must drain your energy. I found travling backwards in time is much harder than forward but then we're about 9 hours difference. Eat your Wheaties (an American cereal) for the US leg of the Tour and your return may not be as bad!

Hi Mikey!!
Long time no post (from me).
I am SO sorry to hear about your camera- my heart sank when I read that. Can you get it back or did you lose it for good??? Hope you can recover it.
I have to say: ditto what the OTHER Sue said! :) We think alike me and Susie. I actually met her in NYC last month, so check my blog for a pic of us...coming VERY soon.
It's been such a TREAT to watch you and Rachel on ITA so often.
A few shows back you opened with a duet - it was simply GORGEOUS. I think it was a new one...and I agree w/Rachel about Tourist the other day. It was just perfect.
So you are not selling your ep on the road? I hope you do when you get to the States.
Hope you are well rested.
Take care and be well,
Sue D. xx
PS You always show your appreciation/respect to the other musicians - so don't worry about that! You did not look like "fish food!"

I saw that the Who announced their North American tour and look forward to your coming to Toronto. If we're going to hit the town, you will need a good winter parka, my dear!

Good luck with the rest of it and we'll see you across the pond in the late, late fall!

Oh, one question- will it be okay for me to publish the picture of you and me and Rachel on my blog? I will ask her separately of course, but just wanted to make sure that was alright with you as well.

Mikey,
I thought the La La La song was gorgious. Why haven't you recorded this one? it is so awesome, I could imagine this one fully produced with maybe a little chamber string section and guitar - George Martin style production. Please put this one on your album. The a capella part was ok, but it won't be that hard to figure out the music. Please record it, it's wonderful. The words were so amazing having listened to the loop twice now, it's all the way near the end of the show, but I had to hear it again. It's great!

Still though...sounds like a damn fine way to be spending the summer.

Pain in the ass about the computer problems, but then again, spending a few days without a mobile or a PC (what I call..."going 70s") can be calming stuff. A time to wear tweed and courdroy and appreciate the charm of a K2 series red phone box and loose change.

Are you travelling in the Airstream when you get to the States? Its got to be the ONLY way to see it!

Have a hippy one,

I really hope that ITA can come to America, but even if it can't, I really think you should go anyway and try to play at least one gig just to check out what an American audience is like. I really think that both you and Rachel can have a lot of success here. There are a lot of great musicians in the U.S. but a lot of people really like British musicians and will give you a fair listen.

Keep up the good work and stay your usual positive self.

Hi Mikey mouche (however they spell that, dunno who they is either so that's as good note to start on eh! mouche as in; aewllwight mouche how ya doin, you can't iagine the fucked up kind of accent I've acquired, round my way, you could be away 20 yrs and how you get greeted is aewlwight, in Italy people you've never seen start dealing out all of those kisses I didn't ever know how many is the custom so just went on til they pulled emselves away, in Italy they give as many as they feel, it isn't sexual it's called being really warm and friendly, in Holland the tradition is three kisses, I tell em I never went to school so I can't count, I'm dyslexic with numerals.

Ere, I was in an Italian girl's house when her mum and dad came back we'd just gotten out of the bath, but, I had no idea of where I was, I thought it was her gaff, so she was freaking out hurry hurry when we were in the bathroom, then she made all of this food, like real pesto that cheese with the long unspellable name, and pasta, no red sauce you know, then her dad and mum got back and I did understand some eyetaliano, he said, Who's this, another one.
Yeah you're right, I tried to not understand what he was saying, though I did, Hello how do you do sir, and all that.

Where were we, o yeah, Mikey mate, u are so down to earth it's like medicine, I feel it in your songs, I've never heard you say a negative word, admirable, blimey, yeah I do respect that.
Mikey, you're an inspiration, how you do your songs, inspires me to get on with it too, I saw it, that you cheer Pete up and inspire him because you do keep it rollin. And keep it real, making songs up wherever you are, thats'the way they work too, because those moments you need, to express something do you know what I mean the difference between picking up the guitar and playing and otherwise, just having to pick it up to find some sanity, and makes sense of yourself let alone the rest?
I have that, though not always but if I am moving, travelling I do.

Can you imagine Mikey, an Italian I knew taught an Italian girl to say what she thought was "give me a beer please" in English because she couldn't speak a word of it, but what he taught her was, "Give me a beer or I smash your face"
She was really pretty, and she went up to the Dutch barman who was a big bloke, and says, doing her best like,

Give me a beer or I smash your face!
That's funnier than Little Britain
Glad nobody taught me stuff like that because when I was born they thought I was so ugly they gave me mam a slap instead of me!!!

So, I won't help you out with a few sentences in Italian after this, because I know you'll never believe me

Take good care of yourself and bon voyage

Hi Mikey -

Well done on your triumphant completion of ITA on Tour Phase 1.

I've really enjoyed your playing and your humour, and would have been very sorry indeed if you hadn't been going to the U.S.

Please make sure if ITA comes to Australia next year with the Who (assuming they are touring here too?), you are a part of it, and bring Rene and take some time off to look around. Very yummy place, very friendly people.

Have a good break.
Love, M x

Mikey:

We love you always and forever, but...you are a blogging slacker, brother!

Hang in there, all the same, we like your stuff.

Word verification to post is: "poodwa"...hmmm.

Peace,
